about

The fifth studio album by Reed features no songs or even recognisably structured compositions, eschewing melody and rhythm in favour of modulated feedback and guitar effects, mixed at varying speeds by Reed.
In the album's liner notes, Reed claimed to have invented heavy metal, and asserted that Metal Machine Music was the ultimate conclusion of the genre. Reviewed in Rolling Stone magazine as sounding like "the tubular groaning of a galactic refrigerator" and "a two-disc set consisting of nothing more than ear-wrecking electronic sludge, guaranteed to clear any room of humans in record time" It has subsequently been acclaimed as a forerunner of industrial music, noise rock, and contemporary sound art.
As there is no score issued with Metal Machine Music of this performance will be a shorter recreation of the original work rather than a verbatim reproduction mostly not to damage audience members and performers hearing.

‘I put out Metal Machine Music precisely to put a stop to all of it. It was a giant fuck-you. I wanted to clear the air and get rid of all those fucking assholes who show up and yell ‘Vicious’ and ‘Walk on the Wild Side.’ – Lou Reed

“Most of you won’t like this, and I don’t blame you at all.’ – Lou Reed
"I take acid at least every two months & JUST BLOW ALL THE BAD SHIT OUTA MY BRAIN!" So I say the same thing about Metal Machine Music. Except I take it about once a day, like vitamins.’ – Lester Bangs
